Seminar: Query and Index Tuning
Level: mostly 200; at some points 300.
This seminar provides the foundations for tuning queries and designing a good indexing strategy.
You will learn about the internals of tables and indexes, index access methods, included non-key columns, filtered indexes and statistics, columnstore indexes, inline index definition, prioritizing queries for tuning, and gathering index and query information and statistics.
You will also learn about using temporary tables and table variables for tuning purposes, choosing between relational and iterative solutions, and performing query tuning by applying query revisions.
Prerequisites: Half a year to a year of experience writing and tuning T-SQL queries.
